In response to several requests I have decided publish a list of equipment I would consider buying or recommending. Equipment listed is not necessarily the "very best available" but does represent what I think is "best available for the price".
Disclaimer: This list represents my opinion and should not be construed as an endorsement of a particular product or guarantee of suitability. With any major purchase, especially something as subjective as audio/video gear, try before you buy.

Denon AVR-1802: (pictured) 80 watts x 5 full-bandwidth rated power, DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II processing, 7 DSP modes, multibrand A/V remote, 2-year warranty
Outlaw Audio Model 1050: The Model 1050 offers 6.1 channels of digital processing for DTS, Dolby Digital, and Outlaw's own 6.1 channel playback. Sold only on line.
Harmon Kardon AVR 320: A bit more expensive than the other two, but features 7.1 sound plus the highly rated Logic 7(TM) decoder, 65 watts x 7, 192kHz/24-bit. D/A converters, component video switching. For a lower budget, the AVR-225 and AVR 125 have similar features but less power and inputs.
Basic, High Quality, reliable, Home Theater receivers. All include Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound processing and solid amplification (not overrated amps that wimp out when more than two channels are driven).
